Since Darksydephil is not the brightest person in the gaming community, he has had several lapses of judgement in his streams/playthroughs.

Playthroughs/Streams

  • In his Ratchet & Clank playthrough, Phil eventually manages to amass roughly 34,000 bolts late on in the game.
    • You'd think: that Phil would go ahead and buy the Tesla Claw. After all, he has been struggling to play the game with the weapons he had up to that point, plus he had the Persuader, which reduces the cost of the Tesla Claw from a hefty 40,000 bolts, to a more affordable 30,000.
    • And what does he do? He instead blows his cash on Ultra Nanotech!
    • As a result: Planet Veldin becomes a real struggle for him as he is stuck with unsuitable weapons, strong enemies, and Checkpoint Starvation. The final boss against Chairman Drek also becomes troublesome for him, since he was also running low on ammo for the weapons he did have...
    • You'd then think: he'd just waltz over to a Gadgetron Vendor and restock there.
    • And what does he do? He buys his ammo from the Gadgetron PDA! You know, the device that doubles the price of ammunition bought from it?
    • Even worse: he makes this boneheaded move JUST A FEW FEET AWAY FROM A VENDOR!!!
  • In Metal Gear Solid 3, Phil is running around like a headless chicken in a sniper battle against The End. During this, he gets an incoming Codex call from one of his subordinates.
    • You'd think: that Phil would take the call and listen to what she is saying, since she is trying to give him advice for his current situation.
    • And what does he do? Phil ignores her, cuts off the call, and responds with "shut the fuck up!", resulting in him spending even longer fighting The End.
  • In 2011, Phil decided to do a playthrough of Catherine for the PS3. He is greeted with a difficulty select before the game begins.
    • You'd think: Phil would do the sensible thing and pick the Easy mode due to the game's reputation as a difficult game.
    • And what does he do? He picks Normal difficulty despite the game's warning him that it is made for those who want challenge.
    • As a result: he fumbles his way through the majority of the game, getting more and more pissed off until he finally lowers the difficulty to Easy. (Note: the types of blocks, stage length, complexity, and combo duration are altered depending on difficulty, so Phil would've been wise to pick the one with the shortest stages, easiest layouts, and extra time).
  • When he played The Evil Within back in 2014, Phil was faced with a giant blade that circles the entire room in Chapter 10, and two or three enemies. One of whom stands up and get its head lopped off.
    • You'd think: Phil would take this as a warning to remain crouched in this room, even with enemies closing in on him.
    • And what does he do? Phil starts getting cocky that an enemy got itself decapitated, loses his concentration as he gloats and mocks his fallen foe, getting up into a standing position.
    • As a result: this lapse in judgement allows the blade to swing round and take his head off as well.
