Deadly Euphemism: Difference between revisions

* The picture above is from ''[[Saga of Tanya the Evil]]''. There are actually a few issues with this being a true example. Tanya is referring to attacking civilian vessels of an ostensibly neutral country. Such an attack, even if successful, would not inherently cause any deaths (although it easily could). Also he ''isn’t'' ordering his men to attack those vessels, but seems to be saying “I might ask you to attack those ships in the up coming operation, so be ready for that. And of course if I do, then we’ll say it wasn’t on purpose”. So it probably fits better into [[Double-Speak]]. That said, with the context of the work that isn’t in that image stripped away, and the term “collateral damage” having an association with civilian casualties, the image works just fine. Also the description of double speak is a bit on the concise side of things so using this image there might have it bleed into the examples section.
