Dick Tracy (film)/Heartwarming
- Dick Tracy's relationships with Tess and The Kid. Who are two of a few people he shows his soft side to. In Tess' case no matter how many times Breathless comes onto him, both his commitment to his job and his love for Tess are what prevent him from giving in. When it seems like Tess is missing When Tracy rescues the Kid from Steve The Tramp, he at first just plans on just feeding the kid and sending him to The Orphanage. However he prolongs the latter thanks to circumstances beyond his control. He gets to know The Kid, buying him new clothes, taking him and Tess to the countryside on his day off and even buying him a baseball and glove. Overtime The Kid sees him as the closest thing to a father figure. When Tess leaves, believing Dick will forever be stuck on active duty and getting himself killed, he orders a coffee at the Diner and the Kid does the same. Tracy gives him a look realizing The Kid sees him as a role model. It's taken further when The Kid renames himself Dick Tracy Jr.
