Disco Elysium/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

These things about Disco Elysium are subjective - not everyone will agree with all of them.

  • Periphery Hatedom: Being an extremely political game, it comes with the territory:
    • The game's English voice cast featured voice acting by members of Chapo Trap House, a very well know group of far-left radical podcasters whose supporters are known for making death threats towards their political opponents, Caucasians, and anybody who they deem to be rich (those death threats eventually got their subreddit banned). As result, the game attracted hostility from right-wingers who believe the whole game is far-left political propaganda who defends violence towards them, as well as from leftists who disliked the Chapo Trap House. Even the apolitical noticed these roles had a different level of quality to them, being conducted by podcasteres rather than voice actors. In The Final Cut, they were replaced by proper voice actors.
    • The development team is known for their arrogance in interviews, come from Estonia, an ex-Soviet republic, and publicly thanked Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels when receiving awards.
