Doctor Faustus/YMMV
- Alternate Character Interpretation: How sympathetic is Mephistopheles? Is Faustus an Anti-Hero or a Villain Protagonist?
- Values Dissonance: Faustus' visit to Vatican City to punch the pope in the face was a farcical jab at the Catholic Church playing to Protestant England (the play comes only a half-century after Henry VIII's formation of the Church of England). To contemporary audiences where the Catholic/Protestant divide has become much, much less important, the scene has lost its sectarian value.
- Considering how melodramatically the pope reacts, today it crosses the line twice.
