George Zimmerman's Big Game Hunter

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

George Zimmerman's Big Game Hunter is a game created by Encyclopedia Dramatica forum members Gizmo and NightSky, based on the controversy surrounding the death of Travyon Martin at the hands of George Zimmerman, who was acquitted of any charges of murder.

The game goes along the premise that Zimmerman really had been roaming the streets of Twin Lakes Retreat, looking for people like Travyon to kill, and the game is a parody of the concept he was "big game hunting" black people on purpose by putting the player in the role of Zimmerman as he roams the neighborhood, attempting to kill the hooded Trayvons, with voice clips of the hunter Van Pelt from Jumanji used as dialouge for the player and to further the parody.

Of all the games produced by Gizmo and the EDF forums, this game is the most technically advanced, featuring role playing game elements, set in a rather large wide open sandbox compared to the other games made by the same author.

Tropes used in George Zimmerman's Big Game Hunter include:

  • Acceptable Targets: According to the game manual, the hooded "Trayvon"'s.
  • Take That; The game is a parody of the conceit by some George Zimmerman was a bloodthirsty killer, and thus satirizes the concept in order to mock it.
  • You Bastard: The player regardless of the reason they play the game, according to Gizmo:

I actually only used the N-word in it's entirely precisely once in the game(post a screen if you find it), and even then it was a reference to another work. The N-word is a cheat code for offending people. Its offensive in and of itself and draws attention from everything else. I wanted the subject-matter of the game to stand on its own, and allow it to bother different people in different ways depending on their cultural or political persuasion. Whatever people choose to be offended by, it'll be in some way hypocritical since there's an equal case for being offended by something else. If you're offended by the the hunting and killing of black people for sport, you're missing the satire of Zimmerman as a racist hunter. If you're offended by Zimmerman's portrayal as a racist hunter, you're missing that in this game you're hunting and killing black people for sport.
