- Alas, Poor Villain:
- Phil. He's really not a bad guy, and he gets fatally wounded by another villain for being unwilling to shoot Tom. The bullets don't quite kill Phil, though; he gets finished off by a later surge of water. When he sees it coming, Phil clings to a Bible in his last moments.
- Also, Kenny could arguably fall into this category, since he really wants to prove himself to Jim.
- Complete Monster: The sheriff. His Moral Event Horizon moment is the "They're witnesses" line, and when he's reminded that if the dam collapses it will obliterate the entire town, his automatic reply is "Screw the town." Wayne also qualifies, as far as we know; the only things we ever see him do are crudely mock his colleagues, lock Tom in and leave him to die, readily agree to murder people for money, and chain Karen up and attempt to rape her before leaving her to drown (although the last one doesn't go how he planned it...)
- Crowning Moment of Awesome / Rule of Cool: Most people who've ever been to high school can probably imagine how awesome it would be to drive jetskis through the half-flooded hallways.
- Crowning Moment of Funny: Henry and Doreen rowing away from the bad guys.
