Installment-Induced Plot Hole

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

If The Movie is Made for TV, or one installment is hit by No Export for You, but is still technically canon, you can miss something easily, resulting in a Plot Hole.

Contrast Dub-Induced Plot Hole, when the dub creates a plot hole.

Examples of Installment-Induced Plot Hole include:
  • The Tracy Beaker: Movie of Me takes place some time after Series 3. Cam turns down the idea of fostering Tracy at the end of Series 3, but Tracy is living with Cam at the start of Series 4. In the movie, Cam fosters Tracy.
    • Not only that, but it shows the two characters Mark and Helen, who only appear in Halley's leaving episode, but the episode doesn't make sense if they haven't already appeared.
  • Persona 2. We missed Part 1 Innocent Sin, which explained all the plot twists in Part 2 Eternal Punishment, which we did get. The Video Game Remake is attempting to remedy this.
