If you read Humbert's description of nymphets, it's quite clear he's attracted to young girls who have already been abused.

During H.H's first night with Lo she wakes up and mutters something about a boat when he tries to fondle her, sleepily addressing him as "Barbara". Later we learn that at summer camp she lost her virginity to a boy she and her campmate Barbara would visit by boat. Although she was consenting to to it, (according to Humbert) it comes off as disturbingly PTSD-ish.
