Moymoy Palaboy/Trivia

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

Trivia about Moymoy Palaboy includes:

  • No Budget: Especially in their earlier videos where they used a laptop webcam or their cellphone to film their performances. Despite signing up with GMA and Sony, they still continued on with filming their videos through amateur means perhaps as a form of Stylistic Suck.
  • Recursive Adaptation:
    • "Rugby Boy" parodies Aqua's "Barbie Girl", which in turn parodied the Barbie line of fashion dolls (going even further, the Barbie franchise is an offshoot of the Bild Lilli line of dolls based on the Lilli comic strip character which appeared in the German tabloid Bild; production of the dolls ceased once Mattel acquired all the rights to the Lilli IP).
    • "Lumayo Ka Man Sa Laklak" is a double parody of both Rodel Naval's "Lumayo Ka Man Sa Akin" set to the lyrics of Teeth's "Laklak". "Lumayo Ka Man Sa Akin" is in turn a Tagalog adaptation of Mariya Takeuchi's city pop song "Single Again".
  • Screwed by the Lawyers: YouTube took down the original moymoypalaboy account due to copyright issues over the songs used in their videos. Major backlash ensued when fans took umbrage to the suspension of their account, and the channel was reinstated not long after. Perhaps ironically enough, they would be signed up to Sony Records, who among other corporate-run record labels are not above filing DMCA takedown requests for those using their works without permission.
