It concerns the misadventures of a largely Featureless Protagonist, who, on an evening walk, takes a wrong turn and wanders into the Bush of Ghosts. He is then kidnapped by one of the Bush's inhabitants. And another. And another. The remainder of the book consists of his (we'll call him Amos, for convenience) attempts to make a reasonable living and find his way out of the bush, although the decision is largely out of his hands. In the process, he becomes a bit of a local celebrity, changes hands more times than a baseball card, and incurs an extraordinary amount of physical harm. |
