Proper Tights with a Skirt/Playing With
Basic Trope: A character (usually a girl) who is prim and proper tends to wear tights in an environment full of short skirts.
- Straight: The girl wearing the tights is an Ojou or Yamato Nadeshiko.
- Exaggerated: Every girl (or, alternatively, every character, boys included) has a skirt and tights as a Clingy Costume.
- Justified: The girl simply wants to keep her legs warm in the wintertime.
- Inverted: The proper girl sports either bare legs, slacks, or Tights Under Shorts, and a contrasting character (in either personality or gender, or both) is the one wearing tights with a skirt instead.
- Subverted: The girl isn't as prim and proper as she lets on.
- Doubly Subverted: Turns out the girl was prim and proper after all.
- Parodied: The girl will always wear tights with all her outfits, no matter whether it's with a skirt or slacks. She'll even wear tights with her swimwear!
- Alternatively, every girl (or, for added craziness, every boy as well) that's on the high end of the sliding scale of properness will wear tights with a skirt regularly.
- Averted: Nobody wears tights in the work, not even the most proper of the lot.
- Enforced: The tights are part of the school uniform. No examples of those, please, except as noted below.
- In an exaggeration of that, not only is the school co-ed, but tights with a skirt is even part of the uniforms for both genders, including the boys.
- If it's an all-boys school that employs tights with a skirt for its uniform, or a co-ed school that puts the girls in pants and the boys in tights with a skirt, expect an inversion of the enforcement.
- Lampshaded: "What color are your legs today?"
