Rainbow - Nisha Rokubō no Shichinin/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Complete Monster: Almost all of the adults qualify. Whether it's Ishihara, who beats up prisoners whenever he's frustrated or bored, Sasaki, the doctor who rapes prisoners with regularity, and Joe's orphanage director, who would force him to have sex with her on a regular basis, you'll be hard pressed to find anything sympathetic with these bastards.
  • Crowning Moment of Awesome:
    • Many, but Sakuragi's takedown of the other inmates in episode six qualifies.
    • Also, the way he floored Ishihara with one punch definitely counts as well.
    • Rainbow is basically one long string of crowning moments of awesome, when it's not being a crowning moment of heartwarming or an epic tearjerker, but Mario and Soldier driving a jeep through a concrete wall in volume 18 of the manga, just in time to save the others from being shot stands out.
  • Crowning Moment of Heartwarming: Despite being a show about six prisoners and how tough their lives are, there's at least one of these almost every episode.
  • Crowning Music of Awesome: The opening definitely qualifies. Heck, it's even sung in Surprisingly Good English.
    • The ending too.
  • Moral Event Horizon: Sasaki's raping of inmates has pretty much put him across the line.
    • Ishihara throwing away the key to 2-6 during the fire evacuation, only topped by his later action of killing Kumagai. Even Ishihara himself seems disturbed by the latter.
  • Tear Jerker: It's classified as drama. Better bring tons of tissue paper with you to wipe off your tears.
  • The Woobie: All of the main prisoners. Seriously.
