* Wrong Genre Savvy: Continues to believe himself to be the plucky underdog hero who rose from obscurity to greatness through hard work even when everyone else views him as an unstoppable and terrifying tyrant. ''Rance X''<nowiki/>'s advertising plays this up for all it's worth, to the point of including an entire section of the website that essentially retells the general plot of the game from his perspective, with Rance as the Big Bad.

* Yandere: Acts like a Dogged Nice Guy towards Camilla most of the time, but is fully capable of lashing out at her in a homicidal rage when he gets too fed up with her rejection.

=== Kesselring ===

* You Gotta Have Blue Hair: Ashen. When he turns back into a woman, the color is mixed between Ashen and the trademark blue hair of the Kalar.

* Zombie Apocalypse : He is able to create a disease called the Chupacabra which make people go berserk when infected by it. He infects Rolex and later Amitos, when she took a hit for Rance.

* Stripperific: Under her large armor, Silky wears very little clothing in her appearance in ''Rance X'', barely hiding her skin.

* You Gotta Have Blue Hair: Light blue.

* Well-Intentioned Extremist: Satella can use all means at her disposal when it comes to helping the Hornet Faction. Including torture and kidnapping on Noah Hakobune and Sill Plain in ''Rance 03''. After acting as a bodyguard to Miki, the Extremist part is dropped.

* Whip It Good: Her main weapon.

* Synchronization: Whenever La Hawzel feels something of high intensity (like pain or pleasure), her sister will feel it too.

* Twincest: In <nowiki>''</nowiki>Kichikuou Rance, should Rance manage to reunite her with her sister, the two are never seen apart and are sleeping together, looking like a "lesbian couple" in his own words.

* Stalker with a Crush: Towards Shizuka.

* Unwitting Pawn: He and Satella were tricked by Noce into stealing Chaos, who was in fact sealing Jill, the immortal and 5th Archfiend.

=== Meglass ===

* Terse Talker: On the rare occasions when he actually speaks he tends to say only a few words.

* Undying Loyalty: To both his colony and the rest of the Hornet Faction. He gladly sacrifices his life and happiness for both. Notably, he's one of the few Fiends to explicitly ''not'' have this towards the Archfiend that created him, as he completely hated Abel's guts.

=== Noce ===

* Wounded Gazelle Gambit: Attempts to ambush Rance's party in ''Rance VI'' by transforming himself into an injured young boy. Alex nearly falls for it but is stopped by Rance, who is too big of a Jerkass to be interested in wasting time saving a child unrelated to his mission.

* You Don't Look Like You: While he shares a similar overall design with his ''Kichikuou Rance'' appearance in his canonical design, he still looks quite a bit different.

=== La Seizel ===

** Upon joining the Human Alliance with her sister in ''Rance X'', she still has issues to confess her feelings and later asks the young Nagi su Ragarl for advice, as the sister of Shizuka Masou.

* Twincest: Upon reuniting with La Hawzel.

=== Kite ===

* Foil: To Pi-R. Both of them harbor disdain for humans, but while Pi-R was mostly looking down on them, Kite's hate is the result of several years of negligence regarding the Green Village. They also choose to become a Fiend of their own volition and their motivation is related to their little sister: Kite became a Fiend to protect the village where his sister died, while Pi-R spent several centuries finding a way to heal his comatose sister.

* Stop Hitting Yourself: How he was forced to a draw when fighting Fletcher Modell from Helman: his attacks were reflected back at him thanks to a special technique of his.

=== Medusa ===

* Yellow Eyes of Sneakiness: Though "sneakiness" is an understatement...

=== RedEye ===

* Oculothorax: Its entire body consists of a single floting eye with tentacles, which is not that powerful by itself: it needs to possess someone to channel its power, otherwise it's just a small eye with an Invicibility Field.

* Puppeteer Parasite: Its main ability is to possess any living being its attached to. In the games proper, RedEye had several hosts: the Wargod Gamma in ''Kichikuou Rance'', Anise Sawatari, a random Mage Monster and Toppos in ''Rance X''.

* Worthy Opponent: Actively seeks these out to curb his battle lust. He used to have one in the form of Sigma, and later attempts to gain another in Rance. Whether Rance is willing to go along with it or not is up to the player.

* You Gotta Have Blue Hair: Has light lavender hair.

=== Galtia ===

* Villainous Glutton: Subverted for the "villainous" part.

* You Gotta Have Blue Hair: Notable green and curly hair.

=== Pi-R ===

* Teen Genius: His youthful looks implies he was turned in at a very young age.

* Transhuman Treachery: A notable exemple, being one of the rare Fiends who willingly became one without the help of the Archfiend.

=== Babolat ===

* Man, I Feel Like a Woman: Averted. He doesn't care at all of his newfound female body.

* Posthumous Character: He died long ago during the First Fiend War roughly half a millenia before the beginning of the series, with his Apostles carrying his Blood Soul. He ends up revived in Rance X, albeit as a female, but he doesn't have control of his body which is controlled by Nimitz. However, if she's kidnapped by his Apostles or killed by Rance in battle, he overwrites her will and comes back for real. He doesn't live for long, as he's killed by Rance shortly after.

=== Burksham ===

* Hidden Agenda Villain: A lot of what exactly he was up to is shrouded in mystery. Particularly why he sent his three Apostles into the Human Realm to search for something relating to his vision of a future Archfiend, which even those Apostles aren't sure of.

* Seers: He had powerful clairvoyance that granted him amazing insight into the future. His three Apostles each inherited portions of this clairvoyance, though none got the full package.

=== Abert ===

* White Hair, Black Heart: He has mostly white hair, but he's one of the most vile antagonists of the series.

* You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: Pulls one on Reincock as part of the test he intended to give to Camilla.

=== Xavier ===

* Villainous Incest: He tortures and rapes his daughter Kurohime out of rage.

* Villains Never Lie: Subverted. While his actions towards the Tenshiists are clearly out of spite, he isn't wrong when he tells Rance that they worship devils. However, the Devils in the Continent are not malicious beings, instead being more neutral and only harvesting souls from dead humans.

=== Masuzoe ===

* No-Sell: As is standard for hannies, he's completely immune to magic attacks of any kind.

* The Worf Effect: He gets utterly trounced by El and his chosen Best Friend to show that their training paid off.

=== Warg ===

* Turns Red: During her boss fight, after she puts you to sleep, she will buff herself and unleash a powerful barrage of attacks on your defenseless party.

* The Unfought: In ''Kichikuou Rance''. While she's part of the Kayblis Faction, she cannot be confronted directly because of her powers and eventually joins Rance's army in a few weeks.
