* You Can't Fight Fate: Whether the dreamer's words are taken to heart of not, the threat cannot be prevented, the true challenge being what occurs in the aftermath.
* Screw Destiny: Forewarned is forearmed, and the dreamer can use the information to thwart the threat, often leading to the bad guys wondering just how they could have been so well-prepared.
* Prophecy Twist: The threat occurs, but with previously unknown variables in play that make it very different than what the dreamer saw, making any sort of preparation ineffective.
* False-Flag Operation: The dream was a Red Herring, and if sent by someone else, the sender is not as benevolent as initially assumed.
* Cryptic Conversation: The dream was meant to be an allegory of something very different than what it suggested, possibly alluding to a danger that is far worse. Naturally, the dreamer has to Figure It Out Himself.
