No Export for You: An infamous case. For the longest time, Square didn't even have a European branch, and as such the games didn't see the light of day there until Final Fantasy VII. The Western world still suffers from this, although not as much.
For the longest time, Square refused to sell any of the Updated Re-release games in the Kingdom Hearts franchise, titled Final Mixes, despite the fact that all the voice acting in the Japanese game was in English! To add insult to injury, the Final Mix for Birth By Sleep was released only four months after the original game was released outside of Japan. This was finally averted with the release of Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD in America and Europe, and the announcement that 2.5 would be as well.
