The Defiant crew crash-lands their captured Jem'Hadar fighter only to find themselves in conflict with a Jem'Hadar crew that crashed there two days previously. And a shocking demonstration forces Kira to come face to face with the horror of what she's been doing. (Full recap in progress.)

  • Heel Realization: Vedek Yassim's suicide causes Kira to come to this.
  • Honor Before Reason: Sisko and Remata'Klan discuss this idea at length. In the end Remata'Klan acknowledges that yes, he hates the Vorta, he does not want to sacrifice his men, he has no desire to kill Sisko or any of his people, and would much rather work things out amicably... but his devotion to the Founders would be meaningless if he did not obey them implicitly. The Founders told him to obey the Vorta, thus he will obey the Vorta, period.
  • Hypocritical Humor: O'Brien can say "damn", but he tells Nog "watch your mouth!" when Nog does it back.
  • Moment Of Funny: "I tore my pants!"
  • Real Life Writes the Plot: Because Terry Farrell has a severe sunlight allergy, Jadzia was seriously injured at the beginning of the episode and spent most of her time in the cave.
  • Red Shirt: Lieutenant Neeley and Ensign Gordon were never seen after this episode, though Neeley defies the trope by surviving.
  • Worthy Opponent: Remata'Klan is arguably one of the most honorable Jem'Hadar ever portrayed.
