Summer Does Have a Soul

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.
"Maybe this wasn't just coincidence. Maybe we were drawn to each-other in July SO that this could happen. So that we could change the world."
Louise

When a group of anime-mad children are somehow drawn together at an un-named Anime Convention in London, they all become fast friends. However, no-one assumes that these children were drawn to each-other for a specific reason: they are the descendants of the Guardians of Earth.

Things start out entertaining - the protagonists all hang about together and play. They visit each-other, and generally become inseperable friends. But then, their dubious roots are brought to light, and Galahad and Louise, who appear to be the closest friends, discover some interesting documents in a library.

The effect that the bringing to light of ther cosmic superpowers on the group is immediate: rifts start to appear instantly - Galahad and Jakob, who were formerly incredibly close friends, but pyrokinetic and hydrokinetic, instantly fall out over a fight gone wrong.

And soon, everyone must face the consequences of what really happened to the Guardians. Everyone. On. Earth.

Tropes used in Summer Does Have a Soul include:
  • Action Girl: Instant knowledge of any weapon near her makes Brid this.
  • Animal Motifs: All of the characters have one. They gain features of them after they die or defeat their associated Alternate.
    • Lousie: Angels. Her Reality Warping created them.
      • The actual feautres of Angels that she gets are wings - there isn't actually that much else about angels.
    • Gally: Arctic Foxes.
      • He has ears and a tail. His fingernails grow in to claws.
    • Jake: Dragons ("Whatever shit the volcanoes turned up"). Once again, Louie's Reality Warping powers created them.
      • He has wings and "weird ear things", and Gally puts it. He can also commune telepathically with the dragons and they are generally peaceful towards him (which is a big plus).
  • An Ice Person: Ironically, hot-headed, rash Galanar gains this power.
  • Came Back Strong: Louise, to awesome effect.
  • Came Back Wrong: The Alternates Louise creates.
  • Green Thumb: Helena has a combination of control over plants and Earth in general.
  • Ineffectual Sympathetic Villain: Luke.
  • Lawful Evil: All the Alternates.
  • Power Gives You Wings: Or other features of animals
