- Complete Monster: Superboy Prime. This is very YMMV.
- Fanon Discontinuity: Conner gets a lot of it from Young Justice fans, who still insist on calling him Kon.
- Ensemble Darkhorse: Of the four "replacement" Supermen from the "Reign of the Supermen" arc, Superboy was the only one who received a lasting series. (Steel got one, but it was canceled not long after.)
- Fridge Brilliance: Conner's 'costume'- jeans and a T-shirt- seems odd at first, compared to pretty much every other superhero. But considering Conner's identity issues, it makes perfect sense. He's trying his hardest to not be Superman, in any way possible. He wants to be his own person, and his choice of costume reflects that.
- Jerkass Woobie: Superboy-Prime, when he doesn't plummet into the Moral Event Horizon
- Moral Event Horizon: Superboy Prime, who in every one of his appearances, ends up finding new and horrific ways to become more and more of a Complete Monster. Until his Blackest Night tie-in.
- Running the Asylum: Back when he was just a mere fan,Geoff Johns was specifically told that Lex Luthor was NOT a DNA donor in Superboy's creation. Needless to say, Geoff ignored that when he started writing for the character....
