The Oberlindes family of merchant princes, as described in the sourcebooks have a number of Crowning Moments of Awesome. In one instance they are hampered in an expedition by Vargr Space Pirates. So they buy a gigantic ship, and arrange to obtain it bristling with military grade arms. They rather ironically name it the Emissary, and send it through Vargr space, sneering at every corsair in the galaxy.

Another time Marc Oberlindes, The Patriarch, heard that his son had been imprisoned. So he hired a band of mercenaries to break him out.
