Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle/Tear Jerker

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • During Acid Tokyo when the true nature of C!Syaoran is revealed and Sakura is begging him not to go after she receives the feather was too much for this Troper.
  • When we finally, finally find out all of Fai's secret, and why all of his smiles are fake. This Troper never cried harder while reading a manga than at the words "I want to die I want to die I want to die! But before that, I want to find someone who loves me." And lets not even start with the relationship between him and Kurogane after the I Hate You, Vampire Dad thing.
    • What got to this troper was, when reading it a second time, that little moment. Fai and Yui have been condemned to be imprisoned, forever, alone and separated. They are however given an escape clause: one of them can die and relieve his twin of the misery. In response, Yui and Fai look into each other's eyes, and with saying a word they clasp hands. That right there, was the last moment they would ever have with each other.
      • Unless you count the brief moment where they lock eyes as Fai is falling to his death as part of a Sophie's Choice to free Yui.
  • The moment during the showdown with Ashura, when Fai screams that he just can't bring himself to kill the first person ever to show him kindness.
  • Chapter 210 of Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, in which C!Syaoran dies. It wasn't until he said "Kurogane-san... Fai-san... Mokona..." that it hit this Troper that this wasn't the unstoppable, murderous clone that was dying, but the Syaoran we started the series with. Needless to say, the tears came fast.
    • Also, in the same scene, as Syaoran is dying: he returns his stolen magic to Fai, who says "It would have been much much better if you had just come home." That's right, this is the boy who betrayed him and tore out his eye with his teeth, and Fai is still willing to forgive him and just wanted them to be a family again.
