Under the Umbrella Tree/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Accidental Nightmare Fuel: A truly bizarre episode had Jacob become so infatuated with his favorite T-shirt that he never wanted to take it off. He was finally convinced to wear something else when he dreamed that his shirt came to life (looking somewhat like a ghost) and ordered him to stop wearing it all the time in the most high-pitched, eerie, childlike voice one could imagine. Yes, it sounds like Narm, but try telling that to a preteen. What made it even worse was Jacob's terrified babbling of, "I promise....I promise...." even after the apparition had vanished.
  • Ensemble Darkhorse: Arguably Iggy. He was certainly a favorite with viewers thanks to his "wacky" appearance, funny and witty persona (although stopping just short of Deadpan Snarker territory), and the fact that he was the most flawed and relatable of the three "kids."
  • Poison Oak Epileptic Trees: Throughout the course of the series, Holly is never shown to have, or to have had, a boyfriend or husband — and, even in Canada, the series couldn't depict her as a lesbian when the show was made, either. As a result, we are left with a main human character who apparently can't get a date to save her life — which might lead some to the conclusion that Gloria, Iggy, and Jacob are nothing but figments of the imagination of a lonely paranoid schizophrenic.
