Violet Evergarden (anime)/Funny

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

The aim of Violet Evergarden is to tug on the heartstrings of its audience. That doesn't mean there aren't any funny moments to soften the mood.

WARNING! There are unmarked Spoilers ahead. Beware.

Episode 1

  • On the car ride to the Evergarden family home, Claudia Hudgins asks Violet to pick from one of three stuffed animals. He prompts her decision by asking her to pretend the world is about to end.

Episode 2

  • When Violet is given her work uniform, she starts taking her clothes off right in front Benedict, causing him to cover his eyes in panic. Didn't stop him from taking a quick peep, though!
  • In a bit of Dark Humour, some of Violet's first attempts to write letters read more like mission reports. The reactions of her clients on the other hand...

Episode 4

  • The way Iris' fall is played out is so overdramatic what with the close-ups and slow-motion and everything, that you just can't help but chuckle at it.
  • Violet's interjections as Iris tells her family tall tales about her job, and the latter's ever-growing agitation each time.

Episode 5

  • Violet's client for this episode, Princess Charlotte Abelfreyja Drossel, is critical of her stoic personality and lack of emotion, even asking her to change her facial expression. Violet responds to that last one, not by forcing a smile, but instead by pinching her own cheeks only to make some rather silly looking faces. Charlotte is not amused by this.

Charlotte: I'm more worried about your future than my own!

  • Charlotte and Damian start writing their own letters to each other without input from their auto memory dolls, resulting in exasperated reactions from members of the public wishing the two would hurry up and marry each other already.
    • The fact that Damian's hired doll ended up being Cattleya.

Episode 6

  • When Luculia shows concern that Violet is feeling a little blue, Violet once again tries to emote by pinching her cheeks in an attempt to form a smile. Unlike Charlotte though, Luculia is amused by this gesture.
  • The way in which Leon destroys a loaf of bread when inviting Violet to witness Alley's Comet.

Episode 7

  • Due to her prosthetic limbs, Violet's first attempt at cooking is...sloppy, to say the least. Plus, the fact that she had to ask the shopkeeper what to do with an egg.
  • Then we have Violet trying to literally walk on water towards the end of the episode. Granted, she doesn't quite pull it off, but bless her for trying.

OVA

  • While trying to do research on modern romance stories to aid her work, Violet just goes into the corner of the library and just stands there like she put herself in timeout.
