We Are the World/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Crowning Moment of Heartwarming: Its premise.
  • Crowning Music of Awesome: For the sheer number of musicians and well known artists. In both versions.
  • Dead Horse Music Genre: As noted by internet reviewer Todd in the Shadows, the "charity single" genre has been parodied to death, which makes the selection of celebrities for the updated version (particularly Josh Groban, who has appeared in parodies of the format) rather amusing.
  • Ear Worm: Try listening to this and not go away humming.
  • Unfortunate Implications: Considering it's supposed to be a song about coming together to help the needy in famine-blighted Africa, the title and lyrics can be considered rather narcissistic in nature and tone - "It's all about us".
    • A British comedian whose name unfortunately escapes me at the moment joked about the contrast betweeen the British musicians from "Do They Know It's Christmas?" telling us to feed the world, while the American musicians sang "we are the world".
