The 40K universe and the Imperium is a strong, unique flavour. It's dark and violent, xenophobic and fundamentalist, baroque and hyper-stylised. It is not science fiction so much as space-fantasy, what with the daemons, psychic powers and technology-as-magic. Some people just aren't going to dig it. —rpg.net
