For a post-apocalyptic Manga series featuring the last days of humanity, Ai-Ren contains a surprisingly amount of Heartwarming Moments, to the point where you can call this a Crowning Manga of Heartwarming.

Several of these Heartwarming Moments are the following...

Nearly all of Ikuru and Ai's "moments" together qualify for this trope.
"It's okay. Ai is still here." Then the scene with the tomato plant right after.
The whole of Chapter 35.5.
The Enfante Terrible Ikuru carries outside the dome. He cries... and dies soon after.
Chapter 43: Dad... Mom... Thank you for letting me be born <3
