The mysterious narrator decides to end the story here, calling all the information so far "down payment". He hints that he was present in some of the scenes that took place, but not all. He brings up all the loose plot threads and says that all of them will be resolved by the story of what took place in Chicago.

The narrator, revealed to be Sham, calls it the duty of the "Twins" to observe everything that occurs--and to him, it's only natural that he wants to turn his duties into cash. He leaves, saying that he may or may not be the same person when, or if, he decides to come back again tomorrow.
