• Crowning Moment of Awesome - For Hide, of all people, using his final moments to help fool (and eventually defeat) the terroists in the Academy.
• Crowning Moment of Heartwarming: A significant one is when Fujimaru's dad confers his dying words to him via the video feature of a cellphone. Doubles as a Tear Jerker.
  • Another one is when Fujimaru and Otoya hold off contacting each other when Peter Pan causes a Tokyo-wide blackout that endangers Haruka's ongoing kidney transplant surgery. They know to trust each other to do what needs to be done in their respective locations. Played even more dramatically when the manga presents this moment in parallel panels. This of course leads to a veritable Crowning Moment of Awesome.
• The Load: Haruka. After getting herself kidnapped by terrorists - twice - she decides to flee protective government custody and promptly gets infected with a deadly virus. Then she gets kidnapped again. If Japan had mountain lions, she'd probably find a way to get trapped by them.
• Magnificent Bastard - Almost all of the major antagonists have this to a degree.
  • And a bunch of the major protagonists.
• The Woobie - Fujimaru's little sister, Haruka Takagi. She has kidney problems, her father is accused of being a murderer, her brother is butting heads with terrorists, she has kidney problems, and the cult likes to dick around with Fujimaru by kidnapping her on a regular basis. Did I mention her kidney problems?
