Alternate Character Interpretation: Despite all his 'headquarters clerk' talk, it is heavily implied - especially in the sequel - that in reality, Danila's job was very 'field' one (It was actually Lampshaded by Krugly). Considering the atrocities Chechen terrorists committed against Russian soldiers, his dislike for certain ethnoses is pretty understandable. And while he isn't shy to tell people in their faces that he hates them, the only people he killed in the film are criminals, who deserved it.
