While Calamity Jane started off as smug, the movie later shows how much of a good heart she has. While she obviously hated Matilda, she never underestimated her driving skills and pointed that out when she expressed suspicion regarding her death. When the final stage of the race is taking place, Jane takes the time to express her gratitude for racing along side Frankenstein and Machine Gun Joe in case neither of them make it. Frankenstein returns the sentiment, but Joe blows her off.
When Frankenstein becomes president, he not only marries Annie, but also let's her grandmother. Thomasina Paine into his cabinet. Both showing no hard feelings to each other after the latter's group tried to capture and kill him.
