Dirty Pair/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Base Breaker: Joanca. Some like the transgender representation but others feel that the character doesn't really suit Dirty Pair's comedic tone, especially since transgenderism became a major hot topic issue in the latter half of the 2010s. In fact, many consider episode 7 (which features Joanca) to be the worst episode of the whole franchise simply because it became impossible to laugh at a concept the series clearly frames as "improbable" that became very much probable over time.
  • Ear Worm:
    • "Rus~si~an! Russian Roulette!"
      • It's so good it was performed during Live Aid. Yes, THAT Live Aid.
    • The original is great, but somehow the cover by Eizo Sakamoto of JAM Project and Animetal fame manages to be even catchier.
  • Gateway Series: In the early '90s, it was one of the first anime to be extensively fansubbed in English (on VHS tapes), and the first to have Fanfic written about it on the Internet.
  • Magnificent Bastard: Shasti: in "Dangerous Acquaintances", she manipulates three distinct groups through complex capers, each serving as the stepping stone for her true goals.
  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: Some fans of the original anime are not too keen on Dirty Pair Flash.
  • Values Resonance: The extremely positive portrayal of Lilis Joanca as a transgender woman was almost unheard of back when the episode originally aired, and it still remains as one of the best handled uses of a transgender individual in anime.
