FSTDT/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Acceptable Targets: For the site's commenters: racists, Conspiracy Theorists and sometimes religious people as a whole. For the people mocked: atheists, gays, interracial couples, left-wingers, non-whites, Jews, women, and heterosexual White Anglo Saxon Protestant males who dare not to hate all of the former.[1]
  • Archive Binge: With a website that has about 300 quotes in an average month and has been around since August of 2002... yeah, you'll be there a while.
  • Bile Fascination
  • Critical Research Failure: OH SO VERY MUCH.
  • Dude, Not Funny: The reaction of many after a quote from a woman who was obviously extremely mentally ill was posted. It's one thing to laugh at the willfully ignorant, but quite another to make fun of people who are clearly ill.
  • Everyone Is Jesus in Purgatory: Some of the crazier conspiracy theorists take this to entirely new levels.
  • Everyone Is Satan in Hell
  • Hate Dumb: Fundies who discover the site are usually not happy. Most of the time they will accuse FSTDT of being a bunch of hateful basement dwellers. One of Rapture Ready's moderators went so far as to say that you have to be mocked on the site to get into Heaven, never mind that you usually get onto FSTDT by saying something that is hateful, racist, asinine, or generally ignorant; definitely not the type that God would want in his kingdom, or that this moderator is presuming to speak for God, a major sin in Christianity.
    • This is explained by the fact that these people believe in "salvation by faith alone", which means it doesn't matter if you're a world-class douchebag, just as long as you are "saved" by accepting Jesus as your personal savior. Of course then, they claim that anybody that disagrees with their politics or interpretation of the Bible isn't actually "saved" and is going to burn in hell.
  • Memetic Mutation: Posting "Feel that Christian love!" or variants thereof on particularly hateful entries.
  • Unfortunate Implications: BY THE ASSLOAD.
    • Implications? They're usually pretty straight up with their horrid beliefs.
      • The fundies are, yes. The commenters, on the other hand...
  • Values Dissonance: Obviously.
  • Vocal Minority: While there is a definite liberal bias, the main reason conservative Christians appear to be targeted by FSTDT is because they tend to be a lot louder than other types of fundies. As stated earlier on the page, non-conservative and non-Christian fundies are fair game, but it would be a lie to say that there is no bias whatsoever.
  • What an Idiot!
  1. The saddest part is that most of these people actually mean it. Unlike Encyclopedia Dramatica, almost none of them are simply joking.
