Archive Binge: On top of 13 full studio albums, 1 soundtrack album, at least 16 E Ps, and several video albums and films, they have countless B-sides, covers, and outtakes, not to mention side projects and singles, and are still consistently releasing new material.
Their song "Do You Realize??" is officially the Official State Rock Song of Oklahoma. All US States have state songs, but only Ohio ("Hang On Sloopy" by The McCoys) and Washington State ("Louie Louie" by The Kingsmen) also have State Rock Songs, which makes this achievement all the more impressive.
Their concerts are this, with balloons and confetti and Wayne rolling over the audience in a plastic ball. Not to mention the music.
They also a have a street named after them in the Bricktown Entertainment District in Oklahoma City. It's little more than an alley though, but that's still pretty cool.
While there's a lot to love about the band's earliest material, most fans agree that it wasn't until their fourth album, In a Priest Driven Ambulance, that they really started getting great. Even then, it wasn't until their 9th album, The Soft Bulletin, released close to two decades into their career, when they finally had what many consider to be not only their best album but one of the best albums of the 1990s.
For the literal-minded, The Soft Bulletin also marks the debut of Wayne Coyne's now trademark facial fuzz.
Magnum Opus: Generally agreed to be The Soft Bulletin. Transmissions from the Satellite Heart is usually considered to be theirs in the rock era.
Newbie Boom: Somewhat noticeable after "She Don't Use Jelly" became an unexpected hit, definitely noticable during the Soft Bulletin/Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots period
Nightmare Fuel: The ending to the music video for "Watching the Planets."
