Guardians of the Galaxy (film)/Fridge

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

Fridge Brilliance

  • Drax calls Sakaarans "paper people". Three years later in Thor: Ragnarok we find Korg, who is "made of rocks", imprisoned on Sakaar. Paper beats rock. Korg even makes (and explains) a rock-paper-scissors joke.

Fridge Logic

  • Groot disintegrated into thousands of twig-sized bits. Why would the one that Rocket picked up be the only one that could take root and grow? How do we know that there aren't dozens more Grootlings growing on Xandar?
  • Many of the non-humans on Xandar have skin in the shade of one of the four pigments used in the four-color printing process used to produce comic books -- most notably bright magenta and an intense chrome yellow. This was a not-uncommon shortcut when coloring aliens in comic books.
  • Drax is completely literal and doesn't understand any kind of metaphor. Yet he says he thinks of Sakaarans as "paper people".
