  • Broken Base: Many people were outraged at the lack of any continuity with the first two films, and in general this film is written off as a bizarre non sequitur. Others, though, think that Carpenter's anthology idea was promising but unfairly killed by Fan Dumb.

  • Narm: Stop it, stop it, STOP IT STOP ITTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!. Buddy Kupfer's death has some of this as well, as does the Fist Clench Of Impotent Rage from Challis as he watches the whole thing.

  • Replacement Scrappy: Conal Cochran and the film itself, to many fans at the time.

  • What Could Have Been: If this story had been told first and Carpenter decided to use the Meyers story for part three, we might have seen an entire series built around Conal Cochran and his plans with a strange little third installment where the action suddenly revolves around "some guy in a William Shatner mask",
