Harry Potter and the Nightmares of Futures Past/YMMV
- Base Breaker: For the same reasons as Team 8. It's partly due to both fics' overbearing popularity, but a number of readers simply dislike the way in which many events and characters are depicted overall (and this isn't just limited to Shipping). You're either going to love this fic, hate it, or respect the auhorial style while disapproving of the plot. No other grounds seem to exist.
- Complete Monster:
- As opposed to Dumbledore, Snape is treated without the faintest trace of sympathy and frequently uses his Legilimency to Mind Rape Harry (or try to) and the other characters. It's implied that Snape might have used his Legilimency to implant self-destructive impulses (namely Harry's "saving people thing") in the original timeline.
- Notably, the story was started before book 7 was published. The ending of book 6 strongly suggested Snape was on Voldemort's side after all.
- The Dursleys don't exactly get off lightly either, especially Vernon.
- Lucius Malfoy is even worse than in canon, if that was possible.
