In Living Color/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Jamie Foxx had plenty of opportunities to impersonate Ray Charles, especially since this was the time when Charles was promoting Diet Pepsi. Foxx would later win an Oscar doing the same thing.
    • Especially in the We Are The World parody sketch, even Wikipedia says: "Career Aid: A parody of "We Are the World", with cast members mocking artists from the original song lamenting about their stardom passing them by. While Ray Charles is among the artists lampooned, it is David Alan Grier who plays the singer rather than Jamie Foxx, who would win an Academy Award for his portrayal of Charles in the film Ray. Foxx is Lionel Richie in the sketch." Funny, isn't it? Though he was a good Lionel...
    • Jamie Foxx also impersonated Garrett Morris (Saturday Night Live's first token black cast member from the show's first five years) in a fake American Express commercial featuring Chris Rock (played by Shawn Wayans) -- a couple years before Foxx would appear with Morris on the sitcom The Jamie Foxx Show.
      • Speaking of Chris Rock, he would eventually appear in later seasons of the show.
  • Jumped the Shark: When the show lost the Wayans family. Even with Jim Carrey hanging on, the show lost its point.
  • Nightmare Fuel, Pyromaniac, Body Horror, Too Kinky to Torture, and Stuff Blowing Up: Every Fire Marshal Bill sketch has these tropes in abundance.
  • Retroactive Recognition: Remember, there was a time when Jim Carrey was simply known as "the white guy on In Living Color."
  • Seasonal Rot: Season Four, when the Wayans siblings (Keenan-Ivory, Damon, Kim, Shawn, and Marlon) were kicked off the show following many disputes over censorship, and again in Season Five when Jim Carrey was rarely seen due to his budding movie career.
  • Squick: Della Reese's Pieces.
