• Harsher in Hindsight: Weller's abuse of power as principal is sadly the case these days when students complain about their school online.
  • The film was done in 2005 and social media sites were still limited with the internet was just getting some tune-ups. Oh yeah, three years later the “Kids for cash scandal” got attention which in included a student getting time juvenile hall for comments about her assistant principal on MySpace. One would think a Expy of Judith Sheindlin would be acceptable for that and might have seen the humor in it… well, the assistant principal found Mark Ciavarella.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: Donna Weller has some form of homophobia as clearly seen in the same-sex kissing protest. However, Julie Bowen would later play Claire Dunphy, whose bother, Mitchell Prichett, is a homosexual.
• Technology Marches On: Though social media was limited to phone calls at the time, the use of smartphones and access to the sites like Facebook and Twitter would've gotten the situation dealt with in a matter of hours.
