These things about Kingpin: Life of Crime are subjective - not everyone will agree with all of them.

  • Memetic Mutation: The Russian dub by Fargus Multimedia was infamous for being even more drenched in profanity, which has earned it Snark Bait status and became a frequently-used source for Russian YTPs (RYTP).
  • Overshadowed by Controversy: Kingpin had the misfortune of being released just after the Columbine tragedy, and went under the crosshairs (pun not intended) of Moral Guardians as well as legislators who were calling for Xatrix to cancel the game or face a ban. Xatrix tried to appease them by adding a safe mode option removing most of the more mature content upon installation, but the damage had already been done as most retailers refused to stock the game likely due to pressure from said watchdog groups, leading to disappointing sales and Xatrix closing up shop.
