Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • And the Fandom Rejoiced: Metal Sonic, boss battles against characters who didn't make the cut such as Chaos, and the use of various Mario and Sonic stages in the Dream Events and music from the two series in Winter Games.
  • Awesome Music: The victory taunts alone signify this. "Wa ha ha! Waluigi, number one!"
    • Not to mention Sega's Remixes of Mario Music in the second game. Seriously, Mario just got a lot more epic.
    • It's Mario and Sonic, people.
  • Critical Dissonance/Critic Proof: Reviews for all three games were low, and the mainstream doesn't seem to care. It's mainly because fans wished that this crossover would be used for Platform Games instead.
  • Fanon Discontinuity: While not a bad game, it still gets this treatment.
  • Fridge Brilliance: Why does Sonic simply not reach the finish line within seconds? He's only running at a fraction of his top speed so that everyone else has a chance of winning, as noted on the main article. But then why isn't Shadow winning all of the races effortlessly, considering he's depicted in the Sonic series as being one of the few beings (if not the only one) who can go toe-to-toe with Sonic in a race? He's doing it because beating Sonic when he's holding back wouldn't mean much.
  • Narm: Males can take part in female-centric events such as synchronized swimming or rhythmic ribbon gymnastics. Cue snickers as Bowser, Wario, or Vector participate.
    • When a ribbon-wielding Vector reaches the freestyle sections of Blue Danube or Csikos Post, the snickering may promptly be replaced by awe. As the music lover of the cast, he sure can dance.
