MeiKing (or めい・King) is a Visual Novel by nikukyuu that later got a four-episode OVA adaptation. Cain Asbell was a simple shepherd until he accidentally rescued a spirit, said spirit informs him of where Princess Charlotte is being held captive. Cain's reward for helping free her is that he's given Lordship over Norland. He's tasked by the king with making it the most prosperous in the land, or lose it all. His main opposition and rival for Charlotte's hand in marriage, is Francis the ruler of the neighbouring land of Tedmond. To do this Francis wages war with Cain and Norland.
Adapted into a 4-episode OVA series between 1999 and 2001, MeiKing.
Tropes used in MeiKing include:
- Babies Ever After: Cain and Charlotte have several kids after the events of the finale.
- Porn With Plot: There's a hero, he has a goal, a few villains, love interests, a plot with a few character arcs.
- Schmuck Bait: Sandra realises that a Tedmond storehouse was this when she notes how easy it was to reach. Sure enough she and her crew are captured.
- Stupid Neutral: The reclusive Dwarves know it's only a matter of time before Francis and Tedmond attack, but refuse to co-operate with Cain past sending Ann to represent them. They join The Cavalry in the final battle.
- Tank Goodness: Francis brings a few tanks into the final battle.
