• Canon Sue: The episode Twisted Truths introduced Tomas, a prodigiously-skilled fighter who was trained to fight in the Mortal Kombat tournament that was won by Kung Lao, but prevented from competing by an avalanche which destroyed his village. Every female character instantaneously swoons over him, and Taja falls in love with him. He wins a sparring match with Siro by breaking his arm within seconds - by accident. Kung Lao, on the other hand, regards him with suspicion and hostility and is easily fooled by Shao Kahn's plot to frame him for murder. Shao Kahn also explicitly states that Tomas is a better fighter than Kung Lao, and sure enough, when they finally clash at the end of the episode, Tomas is clearly winning before before being distracted long enough for Kung Lao to gain the upper hand. At the end of the episode, Tomas sacrifices his life to save Kung Lao from an assassin.
