Mouse Guard/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Crowning Moment of Awesome: Celanawe and Gwendolyn's showdown with Midnight at the end of Fall, Lieam avenging Celanawe by destroying the owl toward the end of Winter.
    • Not to mention freeing himself during Fall, taking a sword and a dagger, then fighting his way to Gwendolyn, Saxon, Kenzie, and the rest.
  • Crowning Moment of Heartwarming: Saxon's Anguished Declaration of Love to Gwendolyn, and her acceptance at the end of Winter. It's the kind of scene you wish the artist had stretched out a bit more--putting the whole thing on one page feels nearly criminal.
  • Tear Jerker: Celenawe's death scene and funeral.
    • Conrad's death counts as well, simply because it comes completely out of left field. Sadie even cries in-universe.
    • Also, "Wolf, hawk, fox, and snake. Can't stand in my way. My body is weak and it may break. But not today." Sung as Saxon finds the body of his mentor, Loukas, who died with thousands of other mice in Darkheather underground during the war with the weasels.
  • Viewer Gender Confusion: Thanks to all the Like an Old Married Couple moments between Kenzie and Saxon, some readers did not know Kenzie was a male until someone referred to him as a "he."
    • Which wasn't until halfway through Winter 1152! This troper and his brother separately made just this mistake -- understandable, perhaps, given that they do bicker like an old married couple.
    • This troper had the luxury of knowing that Kenzie was a primarily male name in medieval times (like Ashley, Leslie, and the like), but she still had her suspicions when Kenzie and Lieam turned up as the bride and groom figurines on two MG fans' wedding cake.
  • What Do You Mean It's Not for Kids?: It may take place in a Mouse World, but there's quite a lot of blood and gory injuries.
