Om Shanti Om/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Crowning Moment of Funny:
    • Pappu lies to Shanti saying that Omi is a independent filmmaker from Southern India, so when she shows interest on visit the set of his film they manage to get a group of other extras and cameramen to create a set for a fake film. Then we discover that the fake film is a curry western pastiche, so we are treated to moments like the epic filming of particularly bad special effects, and the fight between Omi and a tiger (actually a gigantic stuffed tiger, and not even a realistic tiger, but a scaled-up version of a cute plushie one).

Om, punching the "tiger": Bad pussy! Bad pussy! Bad kitty-cat!

    • The way OK manages to convince the director to change the utterly dull scene of his Filmfare Bait film with a Item number.
    • The Filmfare Awards is a non-stop gem of hilarity, from the red carpet where everybody is Adam Westing to almost self-Flanderization levels; to the "best actor" films shown complete with parody names; to the fact that OK's films aren't just parodies of SRK ones, but that the "excerpts" shown are essentially the same scene with the same dialogue line with only the heroine and OK's outfit differentiating them; to the reactions of OK's rivals (Abhishek Bachchan more or less like himself, Akshay Kumar doing an over-the-top version of an action hero) after his victory.
  • Crowning Music of Awesome: "The Saga Of Om Shanti Om".
    • "Deewangi Deewangi" featuring the who's who of Bollywood circa the film release.
    • The movie intro (a cover of the title track of the classic film Kars) isn't too shabby either.
  • Epic Song: "Dastaan-E-Om Shanti Om"
  • Narm Charm: the film intentionally runs on this, particularly the first half.
  • Tear Jerker: OK and Bela's reunion.
  • The Woobie: Om Prakash and Shanti.
