    'Jeers to TV's most worn-out aural gag: the record-player needle scratch. Used to signify a wacky mishap, the sound effect was first popularized by Ally McBeal and has since been heard on countless commercials and sitcoms (most recently Scrubs). Shouldn't someone update the technology and substitute the sound of a CD player skipping?
