Princess Mononoke/Fridge

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Why did Moro only manage to take off Eboshi's one arm? She can never fire a rifle again.
    • If she can design a rifle women can fire, it's not much of a stretch to think she can design a pistol.
      • A pistol is a lot more difficult to construct than a rifle, and if memory serves it was Eboshi's dominant arm that got chomped off.
      • she might be able to design a pistol, but Moro didn't know that.
        • Even if she could fire a pistol one handed, could she load one? These are muzzle loaded flintlock weapons. It can be hard for people with two arms to load them well. She would always have to have someone there to load it for her. Her loss of aim due to her disablity, the wasted person on just reloading for her, and her sense of independence and efficiency would lead her to just stay back in town and administrate.
  • Why did San try to suck out the bullet in Moro's chest? With her much-more-nimble-than-paws human hands, why didn't she just reach in and pull it out? Moro's a god, she likely would have survived it. It's not like it wasn't slowly killing her anyway.
    • She was sucking out blood, if I recall correctly; it's possible she was trying to remove the blood tainted by gunpowder.
    • Did she even know there was a bullet in there? I mean, she was Raised by Wolves. She probably doesn't understand how guns hurt people. It's not like a bow where you can see the projectile moving, just a bang, some smoke, and an injured target.
    • She was trying to prevent blood poisoning, a serious threat with unsanitized injuries. It's unlikely that she could have removed the shot without medical tools whether she knew about it or not. It was most likely lodged in a bone.
