Rob Van Dam/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

• Broken Base: RVD seems to be causing this with his TNA run. Not only was he made TNA World Champion just a month into his run (the day before 4/20, no less), but he said in an interview that he wouldn't drop the title to anyone who wasn't a star during the Attitude Era (he later vacated it as part of an injury angle). This seems to have brought out a lot of wrestling fans who are criticizing RVD not just for his attitude towards making new stars, but for his declining in-ring ability (with the usual argument going that since ECW folded, RVD's been having pretty much the same match no matter who he's in the ring with).
• There's also the criticism that he's never gone out on his back: he won his last match (THE last match) in ECW, he won the last match of his run with WWE (not counting one-off appearances), and he won his match with Abyss prior to his injury angle (and vacating the World Title) in TNA.
• Although, as far as that last match in WWE - he was thoroughly physically destroyed by Randy Orton who has always been a Base Breaker himself.
• The "final" match of ECW (not exactly true, there was a pair of house shows shortly afterward) was about RVD as the returning hero taking down the arrogant, trash-talking heel. Winning his exit WWE match was seemingly a show of good faith from the WWE: and it was a Stretcher Match anyway, it's not like he or Randy Orton would've jobbed out. He didn't have any stroke in either of those cases, so pointing the blame at him is irrational.
• Crowning Music of Awesome: ONE OF A KIND! HEY! HEY! HEY! ONE OF A KIND!
• Don't forget the Shadows Fall version, Fury of the Storm.
• Dude, fucking "Walk" by Pantera.
• Holy Shit Quotient
• Memetic Mutation: On 411mania, there was a running gag in the comments where people asked "Is RVD coming back, or is this a one-shot deal?"
• A bungled t-shirt graphic posted to TNA's website had Van Dam's initials as RDV. Jokes sprang up almost immediately.
• What an Idiot!: In 2006, RVD and Sabu were arrested for possession of marijuana and painkillers. And Van Dam was both the WWE and ECW Champion at the time he was arrested - which is why he dropped both titles, in consecutive evenings, on Raw and ECW on Sci-Fi the week after his arrest.
