• Genius Bonus: When the children's voices recite the names of Santa's newly-empowered reindeer, it sounds like the child speaking stumbles over the names "Donner" and "Blitzen". Except they're not making a mistake, they're saying "Donder" and "Blixen", the original Dutch names used in the very earliest versions of A Visit from St. Nicholas.
• Hey, It's That Voice!:
  • Paul Frees, voice of the Burgermeister and his lackey Grimsby, as well as assorted other minor characters, is probably best remembered as Boris Badanov from Rocky and Bullwinkle, and is also the "Ghost Host" from Disney's The Haunted Mansion rides.
  • Robie Lester, voice of Jessica, is also the singing voice for Duchess from The Aristocats and Bianca from The Rescuers (both of whose speaking voices were done by Eva Gabor).
• Recycled Script: Rankin/Bass later told this same story again as The Easter Bunny is Coming to Town.
• Shout-Out: To Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.

• Jessica's voice actress, Robie Lester, wrote and performed the song "My World is Beginning Today" for her character.
