Spawn/Heartwarming

While Spawn is known for it's horror and action moments. Deep down throughout the entire tragedy of Al Simmon's unlife, there have been several heartwarming moments expanded throughout the franchise.

Comic

The relationship between Al, Wanda, Terry and Cyan is probably one of the most unique ones of the time. In a normal situation fantastic elements aside, when an ex husband returns to see that his wife is with another partner, they'd snap. Al on the other hand loves Wanda too much to ruin her relationship with Terry and the fact that he's warmed up to their daughter Cyan is a key factor. Instead. He fights to make sure whatever war between Heaven and Hell doesn't spill out into their life. Lord helps you if you lay a hand on them. Especially Wanda and Cyan.

Animated Series

"The Sad Man" at the end of a very tragic and scary confrontation between Spawn and Billy Kincaid, Spawn chooses not to kill Billy and corrupt himself further, partially because he didn't want to kill the man in front of an already scared Cyan. When all is done and over with, he spends some time with her. Gives her his old wedding ring and sends her to Wanda and Terry. To Cyan's credit, aside from wanting her mother, she showed no fear of Spawn and had him pegged before anyone else whom Spawn really is. As she refers to: The Sad Man. When Wanda realizes who she meant, tears flood her eyes. She hasn't met Al as Spawn yet, nor does she know he's still alive, but she knew deep down he had something to do with saving her daughter.

Spawn: Hello.
Cyan: I want my mommy.
Spawn: -hands her his ring- You...you go to your mommy now. You're going to be alright now.
Cyan: Thank you.
-Later On-
Wanda: CYAN!!!
Cyan: MOMMY!!!
Wanda: Thank you!!! Thank you God!!! -Sees the ring- Honey, where did you get this.
Cyan: Hey gave it to me mommy. He did.
Wanda: Who?
Cyan: The Sad Man.
Spawn: Wanda....
Wanda: Al...

1997 Film

When Spawn crashes through Jason Wynn's party, he confronts Terry over marrying Wanda. To Terry's credit even after being freaked out that his dead best friend is back, tries to calm an pissed off Spawn. It works.

Spawn: I trusted you. How could you marry Wanda? HOW COULD YOU!?
Terry: Al, when you...died. Wanda was devastated. Do you know about Cyan?

Later on after finding out that Jason killed Al and escaping the shootout at the pary, Terry risked his life and the life of his family to bring Jason Wynn down with all the evidence he has on him. There's a reason why Spawn was rightfully angry at Terry potentially betraying him. They're friends and they literally went through Hell together to keep Wanda and Cyan safe. With the added bonus of Terry making up for (unknowingly) being a part of Al's death.
Unlike the comic and the movie, it's implied that Cyan is Al's daughter. When Jason makes Spawn think he's killed Wanda, all bets are off. When Jason Wynn tries to tell him that killing him will unleash the virus worldwide, Spawn doesn't care. That is until Wynn says the following line below. Instead of killing Jason or letting him live with a ticking time bomb in his heart, he destroys the detonator using his powers.

Jason Wynn: If you kill me you'll kill her!! Cyan
