The first novel, ''Watching the Clock'', focuses on Lucsly and Dulmur, DTI field agents from the popular ''[[Star Trek: Deep Space Nine]]'' episode "Trials and Tribble-ations". The second, ''Forgotten History'', details the founding of the department in the days of Captain Kirk.
